7 News: Pothole reports up 27% as councils face the community satisfaction test

Aussies are keeping a close eye on their neighbourhoods, and 7NEWS wanted to know why. Reporter Ava Cashmore sat down with our CEO, Danny Gorog, to unpack why parking, rubbish and potholes are dominating community gripes right now, and which councils are handling it best.

The segment covered some key insights:

  • Pothole and road complaints have jumped 27% on last year's figures, with Danny confirming it's currently the fastest-growing issue for Snappers in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.
  • New Snap Send Solve data ranks how councils across the country are tracking on responsiveness, service delivery and overall satisfaction, with Maroondah City Council in Victoria coming out on top.
  • Nationally, rubbish and bin complaints remain the most common gripe, followed by parking and cars, then trees, with abandoned shopping trolleys rounding out the top four.

Victorian Snapper, Nina Hanna, joined the segment too, telling 7NEWS the roads in her area are in a rougher state than they were 12 months ago, a sentiment plenty of Snappers around the country will relate to.

When asked what separates the councils doing it well from those falling behind, Danny kept it simple:

“It's about, you know, being heard, about customer service, about being communicated with, and, you know, the old adage, you can never communicate with someone enough.”

It's a good reminder of what Snap Send Solve is really about: giving communities an easy way to flag what needs attention, so the right people can hear about it and decide how to act.
