Nine News: Western Highway pothole reports up 128% in a year

Nine News has shared exclusive Snap Send Solve data on pothole reports along Victoria’s Western Highway, with our founder and CEO, Danny Gorog, taking a closer look at what Snappers have been sending in.

What the data shows:

  • Between September 2025 and September 2026, pothole reports on the state-managed Western Highway between Trawalla and Melbourne rose 128%.
  • Over the same 12 months, Snappers sent in 310 pothole reports along the highway.
  • Since mid-September, Snappers have reported 11 separate potholes along the highway.
  • So far in 2026, the total stands at 114 reports, compared with 27 at the same point in 2025.

Danny put the recent figures in context:

“That’s nearly four times as many as the same weeks last year.”

Snappers’ own descriptions of what they’re seeing vary, from single large potholes to clusters along stretches of the road. Each report comes with a photo and location, which helps give the road authority a clearer picture of where attention may be needed.

The Western Highway is a state-managed road, which means reports about it go to the state road authority rather than a local council. Authorities decide how and when to address the issues reported.

If you spot a pothole, you can Snap it and Send it in the app, and we’ll pass it on to the responsible authority.
