Potholes are more than just a bump in the road, they’re causing real damage, frustration, and making headlines across Victoria.
A recent ABC News report revealed that compensation claims for pothole damage are piling up, but most are being rejected. VicRoads says it only pays out when a pothole has already been reported and not repaired in a reasonable time. That means unless someone’s flagged it first, drivers are often left footing the repair bill.
According to our data, reports of potholes in Victoria increased by 8.9% in the year to July, compared to the previous year.
And these reports are making a difference. As our CEO, Danny Gorog, told ABC:
“About eight out of 10 potholes reported on the app are solved.”
That’s a strong result, and proof that community reporting works.
Snap Send Solve lets people take a photo of a pothole (or any local issue), and automatically sends it to the relevant authority, or as we like to call them, the Solver.
With wetter weather, ageing roads and more pressure on local infrastructure, potholes aren’t going away anytime soon. And while you might not always get compensated, reporting them helps get them on the relevant Solver’s radar.
