The Herald Sun reveals a sixty per cent rise in abandoned e-scooters across Victoria

A recent article by the Herald Sun has highlighted a growing challenge in our streets: a significant increase in dumped e-scooters.

Snap Send Solve data, shows that abandoned e-scooters in Victoria nearly doubled in 2025. Nationwide, the numbers are even more striking, with e-scooter dumping reports increasing by 99% over the past year.

Melbourne’s Lord Mayor, Nick Reece, spoke to the Herald Sun about the impact these devices have on local amenity. He noted that e-scooters littered across footpaths create safety hazards for pedestrians and stated that ending the city's e-scooter trial was "absolutely the right thing".

When  e-scooters are left in the wrong place, whether on a footpath or in a waterway, it can affect how everyone uses and enjoys our shared public spaces.

By reporting abandoned devices in your area, you’re helping to keep our footpaths clear and our communities accessible for everyone.
