Meet the Snappers: ABC Melbourne callers share their local wins

If you were listening to ABC Melbourne with Brigitte Duclos recently, you would have heard a few familiar stories from the people who keep our communities running, the Snappers.

Our CEO, Danny Gorog, joined Brigitte to talk with our Snapper community, a group of proactive Aussies who are ditching the long wait times on council phone lines and taking matters into their own hands.

The segment truly came to life when the callers shared how theyโ€™re using the app to make a difference.

Stacy from Apollo Bay called in to share her success Snapping everything from footpaths to unmown blocks, noting that her local council actually prefers receiving Snaps because the data works so well for them.

Then there was Peter in Coburg, who is using the app to solve a very modern problem: reporting non-electric cars blocking vital EV charging stations so other drivers don't get stuck with a low charge.

One of the most relatable stories came from Beth in Reservoir, who shared that her husband, not normally one for making a fuss or sitting on hold, has become a dedicated Snapper. After getting fed up with chronic rubbish dumping in their street, he found that Snapping a photo of the mattresses and couches was a quick, satisfying way to trigger an investigation and see the mess cleared away.

As Danny explained to Brigitte, this is exactly why we built the app. Whether you're walking the dog like Beth's husband or heading to work like Peter, you can report a hazard in thirty seconds.

Brigitte, who started the show as a sceptic, ended it as our newest convert, ready to join the ranks and start Snapping herself.
