Snap Send Solve joins 3AW Breakfast to talk potholes

If you were listening to 3AW Breakfast with Ross and Russel recently, you might have heard a familiar name pop up amidst the morning banter. Our CEO, Danny Gorog, joined the show to discuss a topic that has every Victorian driver on high alert: the state of our roads.

The conversation kicked off with a look at the rise in pothole reports and a broader debate on whether our road woes are caused by the creation of new hazards or a failure to repair existing ones.

Danny shared some eye-opening data from our community that tracks the reality of the Victorian commute:

  • Statewide surge: Reports in Victoria have risen approximately 9% year-on-year, with over 12,500 reports logged last year.
  • Regional hotspots: While Metro roads are the most complained about, the South West saw a staggering 178% increase in reports (though from a lower base).
  • Local shifts: Gippsland reports rose by 10%, while Ballarat saw a 6% increase.

Danny noted that while "potholes" is the term everyone uses, they are often just the symptom of deeper issues like sinking roads, broken surfaces, and failed repairs.

A common frustration for drivers is knowing who is actually responsible for a fix. Danny explained that Snap Send Solve simplifies this complication by identifying whether a road is managed by the Department of Transport (like freeways and roads with traffic lights) or the local Council.

The best part? Our system handles the hand-off. If a Snap goes to the wrong authority, they can reassign it to the correct one through our backend, helping to make sure your Snap doesn't get lost in a digital rabbit hole.

While the hosts joked about needing a "Minister for Potholes" and even asked if we handle rabbit holes (we're looking into it!), the interview highlighted that the app is for anything that affects the community, from potholes to "very sweary" graffiti on the pavement.
